Psychiatry is a branch of medicine that concerns the diagnosis and treatment of mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders, including depression and anxiety. Treatment by a psychiatrist might include pharmacological (medication) or psychological therapy, or a combination of the two. Psychiatrists are licensed physicians, specially trained to treat patients with mental disorders and to prescribe medications.
Psychiatric counseling is usually delivered in half-hour or one hour sessions. Psychiatrists at the Centre accept referrals from your family practitioner for anxiety and mood disorders.
